Anna Jane Bakery…what’s in a name?

Anna, a scientist, a rebel, my maternal grandmother, and the woman I am named after. I never had the chance to meet her, but from the stories I’ve heard, we share many similarities. Even though our paths never crossed, I look up to her and strive to make her proud. I often wonder what my life would have been like with her in it.

Jane, an educator, an organizer, my maternal great-aunt, and the woman who treated me like a grandchild. I was lucky enough to spend 20 years with Aunt Jane, getting to know her, hearing stories about Grandma Anna, and listening to her funny quips. Aunt Jane never forgot a birthday and always bought treats for her many nieces and nephews. Sadly, she passed away in 2020, but I cherish all the memories I have of her and am grateful to have had her as a maternal grandmother figure.

I wanted to honor these strong women who impacted my life. So, when I was thinking of a business name that would be meaningful to me, I thought of them right away. Although I wish they were still here, I know they are together, and I hope to make them proud.
